KAFAGWAY: Sa Saliw ng mga Gangsa

After the successful airing of our documentary on Baguio’s history, PORTRAIT OF A HILL STATION, and as our group’s further contribution to the celebration of our beloved city’s centennial, we are presenting the premiere of KAFAGWAY: SA SALIW NG MGA GANGSA, a musical on the history of Baguio City at the Baguio Convention Center on August 10, 2009 at 6:30PM. This production paints a picture of our city’s journey through the last 100 years: from a mostly uninhabited ranchierria to a bustling cosmopolitan. With an all-local cast and staff, the presentation aims to remind its audiences of Baguio’s rich and colorful history and at the same time urge them to be more active in the protection and promotion of our city’s heritage.

Featured in the cast are local performers Eunice Caburao, Robert Capuyan, Jr., Lloyd Celzo, Jeff Coronado, Ken Dingle, Rosaline Niwane, Roman Ordona, Ro Quintos, Emerald Ventura, Anapatchi Viray, Cholo Virgo and the dance group, Baguio Amplified with live music by AVP. Script, music and direction is by Karlo Marko Altomonte with Ethan Andrew Ventura as musical director and arranger.

It is our hope that from this presentation, our group, Open Space Projects, can put together an album featuring the musical numbers in the presentation.
