and performed by Karlo Marko Altomonte A twin-bill of one
act plays (“Tonyo” by Rene Villanueva and “Pepe” by Malou Jacob) on the lives
of Gen. Antonio Luna and Dr. Jose Rizal. The production provides an intimate
portrait of the two National Heroes. The play is our group’s longest running
production – it was first staged in 1998 at the University of the Philippines
– Baguio and has since been presented in various venues including Brent International School (1998), Baguio
Colleges Foundation (now University of the Cordilleras) and St. Louis
University (2001), Lorma Colleges, San Fernando, La Union (2002), Daet,
Camarines Norte (2003), Cordillera Career Development College in La Trinidad,
Benguet (2004), University of Baguio ( 2005), Lingayen National High
School (Pangasinan), Kabayan Elementary School (Benguet), Candon and Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur (2006), and most
recently at De La Salle Lipa, Batangas and U.P. Baguio (2008). |

a triptych of three monologues that tell the stories of Teresa Magbanua,
Gregoria de Jesus and Teodora Alonzo, three women who helped shape our
nation’s history. The production features award-winning actresses Gigi Dueñas
(Apocalypse Now, Himala, 1983 Metro Manila Film Festival and Catholic Mass
Media Best Supporting Actress awardee), Raye Baquirin (Aliw awardee) and
Baguio-based veteran theater and independent film actress RL
Abella-Altomonte. |

SEX, DRUGS, ROCK & ROLL |

live music by the alternative musical group, AVP This
performance-art piece tell the stories of 10 painful, hilarious characters,
including a remorseless killer, a pompous British pop star, a simpering
beggar, an unscrupulous lawyer, a street punk, and a New Jersey millionaire
in love with the grotesque trappings of suburban life. Live music complement
the performance with songs performed in between the monologues. |

ONCE ON THIS ISLAND |

and composed by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty Directed
by Karlo Marko Altomonte This one-act musical
with book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens
and music by Stephen Flaherty was based on the novel My Love, My
Love by Rosa Guy. The musical
is a retelling of Hans Christian
Andersen's The Little Mermaid set
in the French Antilles in the Caribbean Sea. The show also includes elements
of the Romeo and Juliet story. Once On This Island was first staged by Open Space in 2004 and has
since restaged the play numerous times and has been performed outside
Baguio in 2006 when the production was
presented in Dagupan, Pangasinan. This Caribbean-inspired musical touches on
several relevant social issues and is suitable for a wide range of audiences
– from elementary pupils to college students . |
